Spotify reportedly plans to launch its paid AI remix and cover tool in early 2027 for an extra $4–5 a month.
The Financial Times reported Spotify aims to launch a paid AI remix and cover tool in early 2027 for an extra $4 to $5 a month.
Spotify is aiming to launch its AI tool for fan-made remixes and covers in the first quarter of 2027, possibly unveiling it around the Grammys in February, the Financial Times reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the plans. It's weighing a price of $4 to $5 a month on top of Premium. The sources said neither the timing nor the price is final, and Spotify didn't comment (Reuters). The tool would let paying subscribers rework songs by artists who have opted in, like turning a folk song into a dance track. Royalties from those versions would go to the original artists, and plays would count toward the original songs on Spotify's charts. Spotify has already signed licensing deals for the tool with Universal, Merlin, Kobalt and Believe, and is still negotiating with Sony and Warner (Music Business Worldwide). Spotify has said it's built for remixes and covers of existing songs, not for making entirely new tracks the way Suno does (Spotify).
When you'll feel it: if the report holds, early next year, and only as a paid add-on to Premium. Which songs you can remix will depend on which artists opt in, and whether Sony and Warner sign on.
