Claude renamed its Max plans to Max and Ultra and dropped the 5-hour limit for verified Ultra accounts.

Anthropic renamed Max 5x to Max and Max 20x to Ultra. Prices stay $100 and $200 a month, and verified Ultra accounts no longer have the five-hour cap.

By Anthony Littlewolf Perez

Anthropic renamed its two top Claude plans on Friday: Max 5x is now just Max, and Max 20x is now Ultra. Prices stay the same, at $100 and $200 a month, and subscribers don't need to do anything (Claude on X). The bigger change is for Ultra. Claude normally limits how much you can use it in each rolling five-hour window as well as each week, and Ultra no longer has the five-hour cap for "verified" accounts, starting today for most existing subscribers. Anthropic says it verifies Ultra accounts automatically using things like account and payment history, to prevent fraud and abuse. Newer accounts keep a temporary limit until they're verified, verifying your phone number at checkout doesn't count, and if you don't see a "Current session" bar under Settings > Usage, your account is already verified (Claude help center). Weekly limits haven't changed. Claude's pricing page now describes Ultra as 10x Pro's usage per week (the old "20x" name referred to each five-hour window), along with $200 a month in API credits. Max keeps 5x Pro's usage every five hours and every week, with $100 a month in API credits. Both plans are billed monthly only.

What this means for you: if you're on the $200 plan and your account is verified, long sessions should stop hitting the five-hour wall, but you still have the same weekly ceiling, so heavy days use up your week faster. If you're on the $100 plan, only the name changed.
