Runway, the AI video company, launched App Studio on Monday.

You describe the creative tool you want in plain words, and App Studio writes it, tests it and puts it online for you. The tool then makes images, video and audio with Runway's models and your Brand Kits, which are saved logos, colors and fonts ([Runway on X](https://x.com/runwayml/status/2114805465658036425), [Runway](https://runway.com/app-studio)). Runway's examples include an app that swaps the actor in an existing video for a new character without reshooting ([example](https://x.com/runwayml/status/2114778020049490284)).

Others turn a lineup of characters into styled character sheets, make a product ad campaign from one photo, and do a "table read" so you can hear a script before the shoot ([example](https://x.com/runwayml/status/2114778032150106147)). Runway also pitches App Studio for 3D and visual-effects work, like taking models or rough animations and adding texture, lighting and camera lenses for previews or final shots. It's included in every paid Runway plan, which start at $15 a month or $12 a month billed yearly ([Runway pricing](https://runway.com/pricing)).

Building, running and hosting apps use the credits you already have, with no add-on fee. Apps stay private until you share them, everyone you share with has to sign in, and people using a public link pay with their own credits.

*Try it:* if you already pay for Runway, turn a task you repeat often, such as a fixed style for character sheets or product shots, into a saved app. Keep an eye on credits while you test, because building the app uses them too.
