On Friday, Oct 23, NVIDIA released RTX Remix 1.6 along with RTX Remix for Minecraft, a beta ([NVIDIA on X](https://x.com/nvidia/status/2113757030754443437), [release notes](https://docs.omniverse.nvidia.com/kit/docs/rtx_remix/1.6.1-0/docs/changelog/remix-releasenotes.html)).

The Minecraft part is a Fabric mod for Java Edition 1.21.1, plus a PBR resource pack (materials that react to light realistically) and a demo map called Blockworks. The source is on GitHub under the Apache 2.0 license ([GitHub](https://github.com/NVIDIAGameWorks/rtx-remix-minecraft)). The README is open about its limits: "This is a beta. It was built as a technology showcase," it targets 1.21.1 only, and it has had limited testing with other mods.

You need Windows 10 or 11 (x64 or ARM64), a GeForce RTX 30-series or newer GPU with driver 616.92 or later, 16GB of RAM recommended, and a Microsoft account that owns Java Edition. The installer sets up Java 21, Fabric and the runtime for you and needs about 5GB of disk during install. The runtime sends basic session information and crash reports to NVIDIA by default, which you can change in its Permissions tab. The mod also adds a Copper Beacon block, a directional lamp, and camera flythroughs for recording videos. The wider Remix 1.6 update matters for modders of other games too. It "Replaced legacy AI Tools with a ComfyUI-based workflow for texture and mesh outputs," adds DLSS 5 with live artistic controls and support for Windows on ARM, and adds a headless Toolkit plus a packaged skill so an AI agent can drive modding work over MCP.

One breaking change: the MCP server now defaults to http://127.0.0.1:18014/mcp instead of the old address on port 8000.

*Try it:* if you have an RTX 30-series card or newer and own Java Edition, run the installer and load the Blockworks map first, since that's the world NVIDIA tuned it against. Keep it separate from your regular modded install for now.
