1Password now lets AI agents sign in for you without ever seeing your password.
1Password for Agents lets an AI agent log in while the password stays in your vault, after you approve it.
On Thursday, Oct 22, 1Password launched 1Password for Agents, a way for AI agents to log in to sites on your behalf while the password stays in your vault (1Password). When an agent reaches a sign-in form, it uses a unique digital key to prove its identity to 1Password, and you get a notification showing which account it wants and why (The Verge). If you approve on your own device, 1Password fills in the login itself, so the agent never sees your password or one-time code. The Verge compares it to two-factor authentication, the extra check many sites already ask for. 1Password says integrations with Meta's Muse and SpaceXSI's Grok Bot are rolling out over the coming days, while Anthropic's Claude Duet, OpenAI's ChatGPT Work and dots, and Town's Townie are coming soon (1Password). It also lists Instinct, Browserbase, Browser Use, Dana, KERNEL, Perplexity, Ramp, Tomo and Wajo as coming soon. The feature costs nothing extra for 1Password Individual and Family accounts on 1Password.com, but accounts on 1Password.eu and 1Password.ca aren't supported yet. You can disconnect an agent at any time, and 1Password notes that the safeguards vary by integration.

"The old model where you hand over a credential and hope for the best doesn't work," said Aashish Tripathi, 1Password's chief product officer.

What this means for you: if you already pay for 1Password and use one of these agents, you can stop pasting passwords into chats or saving them in agent settings once your agent's integration arrives. Check what each integration can reach before you connect it, since the controls differ from one agent to the next.
