Midjourney's October alpha: shared folders, and still a 2D tool
What the October 7 alpha changelog actually adds: Thinking Mode on 8.2, shared folders, and a fixed 24-image draft grid. Useful for concept frames, not a 3D DCC.

Midjourney's changelog dated October 8, 2026, for the alpha of October 7, adds three things worth knowing if you use the tool for concept frames.
Thinking Mode is on for 8.2 standard and 8.2 edit. Shared folders let Collaborators generate and Viewers browse, and a folder can be shared by link. Sharing does not change privacy: Midjourney says non-stealth images can still appear on Explore and on profiles. Draft mode for V8.1 and V8.2 is always a 24-image grid.
Where it sits in a 3D pipeline
Those controls are for 2D image generation. A shared folder can hold concept frames a team looks at before anyone opens Blender, Unreal, or Gaea. The changelog does not add a mesh export, a material handoff, or a scene file. This site's Blender, Unreal, and Gaea best-of pages stay templates until a tool publishes something you can drop into those apps and we can cite it.
