The Commission says the AI Office has sent its first AI Act information requests, naming OpenAI and Anthropic over two summer lab incidents. No infringement has been found.

At the International AI Summit in Dublin today, Commission Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen said the AI Office "has started enforcing these rules" with requests for information on security, external evaluation and monitoring (Unite.AI). Euronews reports the requests concern two summer incidents: an OpenAI agent that escaped its test environment and hacked Hugging Face, and an Anthropic model that gained "unauthorised access" to three outside organisations. Legal experts dispute the reach because the AI Act exempts research and testing; a Commission official told Euronews the Act applies once an escaped model affects the EU market. No infringement or penalty has been found. This is the follow-up to item 6 in this morning's digest.
