In public beta, the Messages API, Claude Managed Agents and the Claude SDKs can export OpenTelemetry traces: records of each agent turn, model call and tool use with latency, token counts and IDs, to Datadog, Sentry, Langfuse, LangSmith, Grafana Cloud or any OTLP endpoint ([Claude](https://claude.com/resources/articles/agent-observability-on-the-claude-platform), [ClaudeDevs on X](https://x.com/ClaudeDevs/status/2110421732029063352)). API and Managed Agents need a destination set up in the Claude Console by an admin; SDKs export from your own code ([setup docs](https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/manage-claude/opentelemetry)). By default traces carry only metadata; a "full content" setting also exports prompts, responses and tool inputs/results, so turn it on deliberately.

## What it costs

Anthropic lists no separate fee in the announcement or setup docs.

## Should you switch

Running Claude agents in production, this replaces home-made logging. Pin your SDK version; span names can change during beta.
