ChatGPT Pro's three prices, and Claude Max from $100

OpenAI's Pro tiers article, which said it was updated two days before we read it on October 14, lists three monthly plans:

Ultrafast, for GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol, uses included allowance at 8x the Standard rate, then credits at 6x. Buying credits on Pro 100 or Pro 200 does not unlock it. Pro has no annual plan. Pro 200 includes more usage than Pro 100. The article does not print a message or token cap. New Pro 200 subscriptions that miss the September 22–29, 2026 grandfather window get a lower allowance. The price stays $200. Grandfathered allowances last through October 29, 2026.

The ChatGPT pricing page lists Free, Go, Plus, and Pro. Free includes unlimited GPT-6 text chats, subject to abuse guardrails, and limited uploads, images, voice, deep research, memory, Codex, and desktop Work. The comparison table includes GPT-6 Astra on Plus. Go and Plus did not show a dollar amount in the page text we could read, so those prices stay Not published.

Claude, from the same week's price page

claude.com/pricing lists Pro at $20 a month, or $17 a month if $200 is billed up front. Max is "From $100" a month, for 5x or 20x more usage than Pro per five-hour session. The page does not print a separate 20x subscription price. It does say Max 5x includes $100 a month in API credits and Max 20x includes $200. There is no fixed message count. Limits reset on a rolling five-hour window, and paid plans add weekly limits. Claude Code is included on paid plans and shares the pool.

Should you switch

These are different products. ChatGPT Pro 100 is the cheapest printed ChatGPT Pro tier, and it does not include Ultrafast. Claude Pro at $20 is the cheapest printed way to get Claude Code. Moving from one to the other is a model change, not a discount. If you only needed a Plus price, OpenAI had not printed one on the page we checked.
