Anthropic opened an office in Singapore, its fifth in Asia-Pacific, and signed a memorandum of understanding with Singapore's Ministry of Digital Development and Information ([Anthropic](https://www.anthropic.com/news/singapore-office-opening), [EDB](https://www.edb.gov.sg/en/news-and-insights/anthropic-opens-singapore-office-and-signs-mou-with-the-government-of-singapore)). The MOU covers AI safety, security, and model evaluation; research on adoption and its impact; and responsible adoption in the public and private sectors.

Anthropic names GovTech, DBS, Grab, and Sea as customers already using Claude there. Organizations that need data to stay in-region can run Claude with in-region inference on Amazon Bedrock.

## What it costs

The announcement lists no new price.

## Should you switch

Only if you need Claude inference to stay in-region. The office and the MOU do not change the product for anyone else.
