Copilot's local sandboxing is generally available at no extra cost
GitHub's week of October 5: agent sandboxing in the CLI, app, and VS Code, local Ollama models in Copilot CLI, Haiku 5.5, and split license accounts.

GitHub's weekly Copilot roundup for October 5, posted October 9, bundles several changes.
Local sandboxing
You can limit agents' access to files, networks, and credentials with local sandboxing, now generally available in Copilot CLI, the Copilot app, and VS Code sessions that use Agent Host. GitHub says it is included with Copilot at no extra cost.
Local models in Copilot CLI
In Copilot CLI, /model now discovers supported models from a running local Ollama instance, listed next to your configured models and the cloud models GitHub provides.
Accounts and models
- The Copilot app can use one GitHub account for the Copilot license and another for repositories, for example an employer-provided license with a personal repo account.
- Claude Haiku 5.5 is available on Copilot Pro, Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise.
- VS Code 1.141 shows agent sessions side by side in a grid and adds "Open worktree cleanup" to reclaim disk space from inactive session worktrees.

On October 13, GitHub added Gemini 4 Argon for Copilot Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise. It is billed at provider list pricing under usage-based billing, and rollout is gradual.
Should you switch
If you let Copilot agents run commands on your own machine, sandboxing is the change to turn on, and it does not add to the bill. Local Ollama models make sense when you want some work to stay off cloud models.
