Grok 4.7: same price as Grok 4.6, a Fast variant only in Cursor and Grok Build

xAI released Grok 4.7 on September 21. The announcement calls it its most capable model for coding and knowledge work, "served at the same price and speed as Grok 4.6."

What changed

xAI says Grok 4.7 uses a new, larger base model than Grok 4.6 and a longer reinforcement learning run weighted toward multi-hour tasks. On xAI's own table, Grok 4.7 at xHigh scores 46.3% on CursorBench 4.0, against 40.4% for Grok 4.6 High. These are xAI's numbers, not a Littlewolf test.

What it costs

The release notes list the API model as grok-4.7:

• $2 input, $0.50 cached input, $6 output per million tokens, below 200K prompt tokens
• $4, $1, and $12 above 200K
• 500K context window, text and image in, text out
• Reasoning effort: low, medium, high (default), xhigh

Grok 4.7 Fast is the same model on faster infrastructure at 2x the standard rates, or 1.5x for long-context requests. The developer guide says it is available only in Cursor and Grok Build, billed through your plan, and is not on the public xAI API or in Grok Build's free tier.

Where it runs

xAI lists Cursor, Grok Build, the Grok API, and model gateways. AWS added it to Amazon Bedrock on September 28.

Should you switch

If you already pay for Grok or Cursor through The X Subscription, Grok 4.7 is in the plan and the Fast variant draws on the same pool. On the API, the per-token price did not move, so the question is only whether the benchmark gains show up in your own tasks.
